Kite buggying - boarding: Les Hemmes
Wind Direction: SW
Wind Stength: 2-20mph
Surf / Sea State:
Air Temperature: 23
Sea Temperature:
Weather: Sunny and warm
Max Speed: 39.1 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 43 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

A nice day at Les Hemmes with Beefy. Arrived at Les Salines car park at about 10am to find it pretty much empty and very little wind. Built the buggies and hit the beach with the 7.5m and the 5.5m and 4m in the bag.
Initially struggled to keep the 7.5m in the air, after about an hour of sitting round in the sun it picked up enough to get buggying, wind was cross-off from the left so cut upwind to the deeper part of the beach where
a load more buggiers were, cruised about there until we all got chased away by jeeps honking their horns who were clearing that bit of the beach for a landyacht race. Watched the land yachts for a bit and then headed back for lunch. After lunch wind had built so also took the 2.2m in the bag just in case it did build to the forecast 20mph (it didn't) and switched to use the 5.5m. Headed downwind a bit to another group of buggiers using the GCU car park. Had some good runs there including a max speed of 39.1mph, at one point I got a big gust and accelerated to about 35mph and didn't notice a
bump in the beach, I hit it and the buggy took off, thankfully I stayed in the buggy due to being wedged in by the narrow side rails and landed it OK.
I looked at my tracks and all 3 wheels were airborn for 6ft with the rear wheels airborn for over 10ft! I didn't think I could get the Iguana airborn!
Changed down to the 4m (which is becoming my new favourite kite) for some more good runs, towards the end of the day the landyachts went away so we
cut upwind to do some runs on the deep bit of the beach. At one stage a big gust came through, the gust blew a load of sand over so you could no longer
see any bumps so as the gust hit I carved upwind to slow down as I didn't fancy hitting any bumps at that speed, in hindsight I should have born away
and sped up as I would have got over 40mph. Packed up at 5:30pm to give us enough time to hit the hypermarket, unfortunately being Sunday the
hypermarket was closed so we got some beers at the terminal and headed home.
All in all a good day, although it appears some new rules are now in place
there which I will need to find out about.
